Experience
Taizé is a unique Christian community, founded after the Second World War as a place of reconciliation. It has become a place of particular importance to young people who, every year, come in their thousands from all over Europe and the rest of the world, to stay for varying periods to experience a very special environment. Coming to Taizé is an opportunity to seek communion with God through common prayer, singing, personal reflection and sharing. Everyone is here to discover or rediscover a meaning for their life and to find a new vitality.
Cost
$400 all inclusive of food, housing, ministry training, team supplies, ground transportation, and trip insurance.
Airfare
Approximately $950
Other Expenses
Passports, transportation to and from the departing airport (usually Charlotte), souvenirs, and vaccinations are the responsibility of the student.
Location
Taizé is located in France, a quick bus ride from Paris.
Lodging
Accommodations there are rustic, with dormitory style life. We will sleep on our own bedrolls. Food, showers, and other accommodations are very simple. Special diet requests can not be accommodated.
Daily Activity
Daily routines will include worship, Bible study, prayer, silence, reflection, faith sharing, chores, and fellowship with pilgrims from around the world. During the week in Taizé everyone is invited to enter into the rhythm of community life, gathering with the brothers of the community at prayer times, joining with people from other countries for discussions and practical tasks.
Leaders
Each trip has two basic leaders. Both the student leader and the non-student advisor are hand-selected and are trained for their specific trip. Please do not hesitate to connect with your trip leaders whenever you have a concern or question.
Fundraising
UCF leaders and staff will help each student with fundraising. It is very important that your fundraising align with the ethics and values of UCF and align with other team members. Each student will have their own account set-up to receive donations online and by mail.
Security
We take your safety and security as a top priority. We actively track current events and trends of our mission locations to ensure a safe and effective mission. Likewise, we encourage each student to monitor the U.S. State Department’s travel advisories.
