Experience
Infrastructure has been devastated and over 300,000 died after the massive earthquake in Haiti. Today thousands of Haitians are displaced, still living in tents. There is a huge need to rebuild in Haiti. Students will have direct on-the-ground response experience as we piece by piece rebuild Haiti. UCF has a lot of experience in Haiti and many mission partners. The conditions in Haiti are very extreme and therefore careful consideration will be given only to the most suited student travelers.
Cost
$450 all inclusive of food, housing, ministry training, team supplies, ground transportation, and trip insurance.
Airfare
Approximately $600
Other Expenses
Passports, transportation to and from the departing airport (usually Charlotte), souvenirs, and vaccinations are the responsibility of the student.
Location
Port-au-Prince is the capital of Haiti and its center of population.
Lodging
Students will stay in dorms in the heart of the city that were not damaged during the earthquake. Electricity is provided by solar panels. However, like most places in Haiti, there are no refrigeration or air conditioning facilities. However, the team will be blessed to have four showers and indoor bathrooms.
Daily Activity
Students will be working in tent cities, rebuilding homes and churches, participating in clinics and assisting with orphanages.
Leaders
Each trip has two basic leaders. Both the student leader and the non-student advisor are hand-selected and are trained for their specific trip. Please do not hesitate to connect with your trip leaders whenever you have a concern or question.
Fundraising
UCF leaders and staff will help each student with fundraising. It is very important that your fundraising align with the ethics and values of UCF and align with other team members. Each student will have their own account set-up to receive donations online and by mail.
Security
We take your safety and security as a top priority. We actively track current events and trends of our mission locations to ensure a safe and effective mission. Likewise, we encourage each student to monitor the U.S. State Department’s travel advisories.
